Okay, guys, I know there?s this vote going on, so consider this a vote plus a little more. You can all feel free to reject this particular direction, of course, and go with something totally different. And sorry this is so long--I'll understand if you have better things to do http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
?It?s--" He paused, smiling strangely. ?It?s herself.?
Logan stared at him. ?She wants you to kill *her*??
?That?s right.?
?Well, pardon me, but that?s just about the dumbest thing I?ve ever heard. Why doesn?t she just commit suicide? Hell, why doesn?t she just call *me*??
?I don?t know. I?m convinced that she isn?t telling me the whole story.? He sighed, leaning against the desk, staring gloomily at the sickly glow of the computer screen. ?She tried to feed me some story about wanting to die but not being able to bear the indignity of suicide...?
?You?re instincts are right,? Logan nodded. ?She?s setting you up. Question is, why??
Kurt sighed again. ?We could wonder about that till kingdom come.?
?Maybe she?s trying to frame you.?
"I thought about that, but there must be easier ways of doing it. I mean, I may not be you, but I certainly think that with these Xavier Protocols I could pose a significant threat to her. If she?s bluffing, she?d better have a good way out. And anyways"--Kurt gave Logan a small, ironic smile--"what could she possibly have to gain by framing *me*??
Logan chuckled. ?Don?t sell yerself short. Graydon Creed was worried enough about you.?
?Yes--embarrassed by me. For people like him, that?s as good a reason as any to kill someone.?
?It could be as simple as that.?
?Mystique isn?t a politician, she?s a terrorist. She doesn?t worry about things as petty as her reputation. I?m convinced that behind all this, there?s a perfectly cold, calculating, self-interested motive. That?s just how she is.?
?Yeah? And what was her motive in seducing me??
Kurt frowned. ?Well...? He shook his head. ?I don?t know. But there must?ve been one.?
?What, you don?t think I?m attractive enough to merit sinister machinations and subterfuge??
Kurt grimaced. ?In light of recent revelations, Logan, I?d really rather not think about your sex life right now.?
?Well, we might have to. You see, son, when a mommy and a daddy love each other *verrrry* much--"
?Ach, please! You?re going to give me nightmares.?
?Hmph.?
They sat in silence for a few moments, bathed in the weak, cold light of the screen still displaying its deadly information. It was foolish, thought Logan, to believe that nothing would change. He knew Kurt and he knew himself, and so he knew that they would both do their best to pretend that things were normal--but it wouldn?t last long.
Kurt broke the silence. ?Do you think we should tell anyone??
?You mean about--us? Let?s keep a lid on it for now. There?s always time later on to pitch in our lot with the X-Men family melodrama.?
Kurt grinned. ?Hey--you still don?t know whether ?Logan? is your first or your last name, right??
?Right--why??
?Just means you could still theoretically be a Summers.?
?Don?t. Even. Say. It.?
?Sorry.?
An hour later, the party had moved a few miles down Greymalkin Lane to the route 126 junction--Harry's Hideaway. Logan sat down and slid one of the beers across the table to Kurt, then stretched and yawned as Kurt began putting the beer away at an alarming rate. Logan watched as he up-ended the bottle, then set it down on the table with a gasp and a sigh.
?Ahhh...that?s just what I needed.?
?Feelin? better now??
?Somewhat, given the circumstances.?
?Granted. Now, let?s review the facts. One thing you never told me, though--what exactly *is* she holding over you??
?She says she has things on you, things that could make your life very difficult.?
Logan scowled. ?Well, it ain?t exactly roses now. What kinds of things??
?She didn?t say. Could be a bluff. But now that I know the nature of your...association...it doesn?t seem so unlikely.?
?True enough. Thanks, by the way.?
Kurt cocked an eyebrow. ?For what??
?Fer caring enough to let her blackmail you on my behalf.?
?No problem. What are friends for? Anyway, it?s my filial duty now.?
The comment dropped like a stone through the conversation. Neither of them spoke for a while. Logan realized he actually had quite a bit to say, but it just wasn?t coming. Was it embarrassment? Emotion? Nerves? He tried to sort out what he was feeling, and found he couldn?t. There was just no precedent for this sort of thing, no commonplaces to guide him through this experience. He could only imagine what it was like for Kurt.
?So what?re you gonna do?? he asked at last.
?I?m going to play her game.?
Logan shook his head. ?So she has things on me. How bad can it be??
?I don?t know. But you *are* in the rather uncomfortable position of having someone who may very well know more about your life than you do.?
?You can?t cooperate with her.?
Kurt glared at him. ?It?ll be your funeral, Logan.?
He glared back. ?I can take care of myself.? He shook his head. ?I?m not gonna let you do it. If you kill her--well, I know you, and you?d never forgive yourself. If you don?t kill her--that would mean she has other plans, other plans that could get *you* killed. So I?m not gonna let you.?
?Don?t you think I?m a little old for this sort of thing??
?I?m still yer father, kid.?
Kurt groaned. ?I?m going for another beer.?
Just what *are* the malicious matron of mayhem?s true intentions? Will Logan allow Kurt to play along, or will he put his foot down? For that matter, will he allow Kurt to stay out past midnight? The ball?s in your court now, *you* decide...

No! Not Justice Fruit Pies! The delicious treat you'd have to be crazy not to like!
Hehehe...wouldn't that suck to find out your best friend is really your dad?
Good job Rex!! I especially like the Spider-Man and 3rd Summers cracks! Great stuff!

30 minutes and 13 beers later...
"Hey! Take it easy, elf! Slow down some, will ya?!"
*as he gulps down yet another one, now truly drunk* "Why should I? I don't have to do anything tonight!"
"Well, you should be trying to figure this out. You should stop drowning yourself in this stuff and face it all head on...Wow... Never thought I'd say that. Anyway, isn't there a rule about not drinking when you're becoming a priest?"
*barely still upright* "Of course...and there are also rules about breaking into friends' offices and stealing ways to kill people. And I'm sure they'd frown upon trying to kill your mother."
Logan chuckles softly before becoming very solemn as he looks at his drunken friend, who now has a shot of vodka.
"Come on, elf. You've had enough" He says before smiling wildly as he sees Kurt down the shot and start to fall over backwards. Logan catches him and laughs shamefully as he tosses the limp elf over his shoulder, heading for the exit of the bar.
"Let's go home"
The next morning...Kurt awakens to the sun shining in his eyes, and a terrible headache.
"Good Morning, my angel" She says sarcastically.
"Mystique!?!" He growls. "What are you doing here!?!?" He tries to get up to confront her, but finds that he has been bound, his hands together behind his back, his feet and tail similairly tied.
*poot* He groans loudly, grimacing from the pain in his head, and from the strain of trying to 'port unsuccessfully.
"Where are we??" He asks before answering it himself. The pool house??
"We are near where your friends are all sleeping...but far enough that they can't hear you scream. Your 'father' certainly knows how to take care of you."
"I'll say he does" He grumbles under his breath. "Logan, you idiot."
"Don't worry...he's already paying for what he did to my child." She says coldly as she pinches his cheek, twisting hard.
Sorry if my part have screwed you all up. Just remember it's not true. None of it is. And if it makes you uncomfortable, good! That's how Kurt would feel!
--This is the 250th Post! WTG, Spatch!!--
I gotta say I'm not crazy about the logan as Kurt's dad idea, but this is a great read! I'd love to see this sort of soap opera stuff in the comics. Imagine, Logan telling Kurt he's had enough! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Here's my two cents.

She smiled down at him cruelly.
"Ah, my dear, trusting boy," she turned her back to him, rummaging through a duffel bag on a table in the corner.
Damn! Kurt tried to wriggle out of his bonds; flexing his wrists he felt the knots grow tighter. Where was he? The boathouse. The last thing he had remembered was that last shot at the bar, and Logan. Logan! Was he here too? No. He forced himself to his knees, ignoring the pounding in his skull. Mystique seemed intent on whatever she was doing in the corner. Licking his lips, he edged toward the door.
Mystique turned, she held something metallic in her right hand, it glittered in the sunlight.
"Ugh, you?re not going to get away. Mommy knows best."
He felt a crack as her kick connected solidly with his ribs. Without the use of his hands to catch himself he fell forward onto his face.
"Why?? He wheezed, twisting to look up at her.
"Why? I?m afraid you?ll never know, my son. You see, I knew I?d find a use for you eventually."
She bent down, catching his arm easily. He was too stunned to pull away as she stabbed the needle into his deltoid muscle. She pressed the contents of the syringe into his body. It felt like a fire in his veins. He contorted on the floor, a scream ripped from his throat.
Mystique pulled a knife from her belt. Turning back to the table she picked up a pair of latex gloves and pulled them on. She caught his right hand, cocking her head with interest as she watched him convulse. She pressed the knife into his hand, curling his fingers around the handle and then returned it to her belt.
She rested on her haunches, watching him. He had stopped moving and lay mostly on his back now. His breath came in harsh pants; his yellow eyes stared up at her blankly. Impulsively, she reached out and smoothed his hair back from his face. It was starting to happen.
The change began slowly, as it had for her the first time. The short fuzz on his face melted away, his hair lengthened and changed color. Within moments the same yellow eyes stared up at her from a different face.
Laughing to herself, she changed her form and bent to slap his face - hard. He would be awake for this.
"Ughhh?" Clarity returned to his eyes and he blinked up at her, into his own face.
"Damn you," his voice was slurred, weak, but it didn?t sound quite right. It was slightly higher; it felt different in his throat. "What have you done to me? How dare you take my shape, witch!"
"Not just your shape, son." Her mouth ? his mouth ? twisted cruelly on the last word as she stabbed her knife into his stomach and upward. She stood, pulling the knife free with a wrench of her arm. Cutting his bonds, she picked up the ropes and watched the crimson stain spread across the floor. She dropped the knife by the doorway. Peeling off her gloves, she stuffed everything into her bag and slung it over her shoulder.
She addressed the unmoving shape on the floor.
"Now it?s time to deal with your father."
The door closed behind her with a click.

Violent, I know. But Mystique is a violent kind of gal. And as for how she could come up with something to change his shape, how did she mutate the Legacy virus? She's just a bundle o'mystery.

Almost an hour later...
Piotr walks in to find Mystique bleeding all over the floor, unconsicous.
"What the?!?" He asks himself as he lunges for the alarm on the wall.
In less than a second, the entire estate is blaring with sirens and Kitty and Cecilia come running.
"What happened, Peter!?" Cecilia cries as she and Kitty run through the wall, into the poolhouse. "What'd you do!?"
"I didn't do anything! She was like this when I got here!"
"Okay, okay, she's still alive, help me get her back to the mansion!" And with that, Piotr gently picks up the limp body and walks towards the house as Kitty phases all of them to hasten their progress.
"Come on! Come on!!" She cries impatiently, wondering just why she cares so much for one of their worst enemies.
"She's going to be allright!" She assures herself, not really knowing why she has to.
3 days later...the infirmary...
He wakes up to sharp pains in his side and a very sharp, wet pain in his gut.
"What happened?" He asks himself outloud, startled at the sound of the voice he now posesses...
"You're safe, Mystique. We've got you and you're healing rather quickly, even for you"
"Kitty??"
"Yes, it's me." She says gently before getting angry "You address me as if I'm your friend. Don't. I'm not."
Kurt tries to sit up, but once again he is bound, this time to the hospital-style bed.
"Yeah, Mystique, like we would really let you be here without some sort of restraint."
"Kitty...I'm not Mystique. It's me, Kurt"
"Sure you are. And I'm the Beast. Don't get cute with me, woman, whatever you did with him, we'll find out."
"Did with him?!? I'm him!! Kitty! You have to believe me!" But as he finishes his words, he realizes that she'll never believe him. He looks like Mystique...Wait...He looks like Mystique, but he's not her!
"Get Logan, then, Kitty, he'll tell you. I should still smell like myself!"
"Real nice. Why don't you make more requests you know we can't grant. We know you did something with Logan too. And quit calling me Kitty!"
